Hi, I'm Dr. April Patrick. University Director of Honors here at FDU. I've been at the university since 2014. One of the things I really love about FDU is the opportunity to work with such a great mix of students. I get a chance to work with students on both our Florham and Metropolitan campuses. And I really love to get to know the different types of students on those campuses once they come from across the country and around the world. And there really is such a wide variety of features. In Honors, I think one of the things that makes our Honors Program most exciting is the strong community that we have among the members of honors. Our students, our faculty, and our staff all work together in classes but also get to enjoy ourselves in trips around the area and abroad.
So that sense of community that we have really spreads across all three of the Honors options here at FDU. For students that want to be an honors at FDU, you have the choice between our Honors Academy, our Honors Program, and our Global Scholars Program. The Honors Academy is our smallest and most prestigious for students here at FDU. We have only 20 students admitted to the Honors Academy per year, that's 10 from the Florham campus and 10 from the Metropolitan campus. Those students work together through a series of seminars that are team taught by an interdisciplinary group of faculty who are working together from a wide variety of fields and really helping students to think about challenges and issues facing the world today. The Honors Program is our largest group of honors students at FDU. We have over 450 students in our Honors Program between the Florham and Metropolitan campuses. They represent nearly every single major we have available here at FDU. And they have a wide variety of interests and ideas and things that they want to do when they graduate from FDU. Finally, our Global Scholars Program is based on our Metropolitan campus. That program is really for students that are interested in the international and global mission of FDU. And so those students get an opportunity to take classes that fulfill general education requirements, but are really focused on global politics and global culture. They take trips locally to restaurants to have cultural dinners experiencing the food and culture of many different places, as well as having an option for trips that can take them around the world on breaks, whether that's winter or summer break.
So if you want to join us here and honors at FDU, I invite you to apply through our Honors website. You can find that at fdu.edu/honors. There will be a link for our Honors application there. It includes a bit of information about you but mostly some short answer questions to help us really get to know you and get to know what a fit would be for our programs here at FDU. We're excited to see your applications come in and really look forward to getting a chance to get to know you. We wish you all the best in your application process in your decisions about where to go to college and we hope that we'll get a chance to welcome you here at FDU.
